Is it better to delete a user from GP 10 or inactivate them? What happens to the audit trails if the user is deleted?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

When GP users leave the company, is it better to delete them or inactivate them?  We need to ensure that the audit trails are kept in tact.

The audit trails are kept in place, however, if you delete the user then you have no record of the user name. Also, if you create a new user with the same id, all of the old user's audit trails will hook up to the new user. It's probably better to remove all access from the old user, but keep them in the user master table.

    Kind regards,
