Shipment Invoice Vs Drop-Ship Invoice (is there a difference)?

Hello,

I know that you can set the flag for a drop-ship and that will basically allow you to create a PO invoice without receiving. I've also heard of a shipment invoice where you create the receiving at the same time as the invoice. Is there a difference between a drop-ship and shipment invoice? If so, what is the difference?

Excellent, thank you, Frank. I suspected it was something along those lines but wanted confirmation!

Yes there is a difference.  The Shipment-Invoice Receipt does in fact enable you to perform the Shipment & Invoice Receipts simultaneously.  However, it's use does not extend to Drop Ship items but only for items actually received.  The transaction is mostly used by smaller companies that don't have a formal receiving department and/or for receipts that don't hit the receiving dock.

To enter an invoice for a Drop Ship PO, you use the Purchasing Invoice Entry window.
