anyone any thoughts on this? Is this a bug? I am using Dynamics CRM 2011 Rollout 14..

Any help is much appreciated as this seems to be a critical issue..

    Hi.

Past appointments will not be deleted in Outlook if you delete them in CRM.

The only way is to delete an open appointment set in the future.

Hi, maybe you can give more details.

Is it happening for 1 or multiple appointments? For everyone or only you? That could narrow down the possible issues.

Who is the organizer of the appointment? If you did not organize it, then you probably cant delete it in Outlook.

If you open it and click "View in CRM", are you getting the record not found error? Similarly, can you just delete it in Outlook?

    Cheers,

    Frederic

Hi Frederic thanks for suggestions, please see below my answers

    This is happening for everyone

This happens for any appointment I set up future or past

I am the organizer of the appointment

If I click view and open in crm yes I get error saying its not found

I can also just delete it in outlook as well but ofcourse that's double the work

This is why this is so frustrating!! Seems like I tried everything

    Any thoughts ?

Hi, are you getting errors during the synchronization?

I think that what you should do now is review the client log files in <userfolder>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM\Logs, and try to run a trace on the client computer to see if there is anything wrong during the sync process.

If you don't find any error message, then maybe you just prevented CRM from deleting appointments somehow, for example maybe you edited the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRMClient\DoNotDeleteOutlookAppointments

Where is this user folder located?

    <userfolder>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM\Logs

Also when I run Regedit I don't even see DoNotDeleteOutlookAppointments under there.. is it because I am using CRM 2011?

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRMClient\DoNotDeleteOutlookAppointments

In C:\Users, you should have one folder for every user.

The registry key I mentioned should not be there if you or your administrator did not modify the registry. It's actually a registry key that was used in CRM 4.0 to fix a old bug with the appointments... check the log files instead.

You can also enable tracing on the client side to get a very detailed list of events occurring in CRM:

    support.microsoft.com/.../907490

The last suggestion I can make is of course open a case with Microsoft support.

Thanks so much. Just 2 follow up questions

    1) what would I look for in log files?

    2) is opening a case with MS through connect.microsoft.com I see they only allow you to put a suggestion though

    1) try to sync a deleted appointment, and search for the date and time when you synced in the log files, or alternatively look for the "Error" keyword

    2) I usually go to www.microsoft.com/.../customer and access customersource. You will need to log in. Ask the person who purchased Dynamics CRM in your organization (if you are not the one who bought it). You can also contact them by phone... all details are on the customer source
