Integration Manager to update default Sites- bins

(0) ShareShare

Hi there

We are running MS GP 10 with the manufacturing module and need to update the default Locations\ Bins for about 13000 part numbers.

I tried an Update integration using IM.....receive no errors...but none of the sites or bins were assigned to the parts?

What exactly can be updated in the inventory tables using IM??

Thanks

Tami

    Hello Tami,

Go into mapping and select Qtys/Sites and the Options tab.  Make sure you do not have the rule set to 'Use Default'.  If this rule is set to 'Use Default', the integration will not look at any of your mapping in the Bins object.  In the Bins mapping, go to the Options tab and verify that you have 'Use Field Rules'.

If this does not work, Integration Manager will not update any integrating product information.  Because Manufacturing is a integrating dictionary Integration Manager will not update Manufacturing information.

Integration Manager is a macro that is run in Dynamics GP and if the core GP windows are modified or you are using a alternate window, you will need to remove the modification or grant access to the core GP window and then try the integration.

    Hi Tami,

Could you provide some more information as to what exactly you are looking to update? For example what is the window called that you are trying to update the information in? Is this in inventory or manufacturing?

    Thanks.

I am trying to set the default locations and bins in Inventory...so when I run a picklist it knows where to pull the parts from??

Item Quantities Maintenance Window...The default  Site, The assigned sites and the bins associated with the sites??

The "Issue from" Site for components can be set in Manufacturing Bill of Materials.  In the absence of an Issue from site, you are correct - the default site is used.  The Default site is the field LOCNCODE in table IV00101.  Default bins for Manufacturing are fields MATERIALISSUEBIN and MORECEIPTBIN in table IV00102.

You can Mass Assign Items to a Site from Site Maintenance (Assign button).

I think Dawn's solution is better (fully supported), but I would use SQL (unsupported) to do what it looks like you're trying to do.  If I understand what you're trying to do, nothing in Manufacturing needs updating.

Thanks Tim....you are right.  We already have all parts and BOMs in the system ....but need to assign the default locations and bins to the Items as they are not on the BOMs.

I tried running an integration...mapping the fields...but nothing was updated? So I  am thinking that Dawns solution may work as I did not check that setting in the integration.

    Will try again.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

You will need to update BM010115, the fields are WCID_I and LOCNCODE where WCID_I is the "Issue To" and LOCNCODE is the "Issue From"

In my previous answer I am referring to MFG BOMS

I am not understanding....will the manufacturing module not look at the Inventory Locations and bins for this if this is not populated?? It would be ridiculous to have to edit thousands of BOMs if you made changes to where items are stored?

As far as I know and when I Integrate BOMS in GP I always populate those fields, so to be true I have not faced the situation where those fields are missing and how GP tries to get them
