Production Order Add RAW materials to Inventory Instead of Consumption

Hi

I thought I saw similar topic but I could not find it.

Is it possible that we create a BOM that instead of consuming material adds the raw material into inventory?

Let say we have Item A and Item B. Item B has 2 extra screws (let say Item C)  in it. Now we want to consume Item A in production BOM of Item B. But we want to add those screws (Item C)  to stock as a result of this process.

I know Production Family will not work for us because we need to plan for Item B as well.

Note: we buy the Item A as a package. Also, we sell screw (item c) for repair.

Thanks

    RE: Production Order Add RAW materials to Inventory Instead of Consumption

    @Josh Anglesea

    Thanks Josh for info

    1) I added negative line but the Ledger Entry remains open and shows remaining QTY as 1. I finished the production order and ran the Cost Adjustment but this still shows open. I think this will create issue when I want to close the inventory period.

    2) As you mentioned method 2 is manual and due to high volume of this part we cannot use this method.

    Thanks for your help

    Have you tried using a minus qty. in the production BOM?

    Other way is to have an additional line on the production order. Add manually or have it created on order. Draw back of he second option is you would need to stop the parent item consuming it as a sub assembly. The 1st option is the lowest maintenance
