NAV to Excel

Posted on by 158

So i was trying to export a specific column from NAV to excel but unfortunately it was'nt allowing me to do it. In the SQL server it does not have that column in a specific Jet Report. Is there a way that the column can be incorporated into that report from NAV.

2nd question was that can we manually change column headings like say Reason Codes to our own preference?

    Dear Faizan,

There is an awesome feature in Excel 2013 called Powerview which consumes the Web Service OData Feed which is created in Dynamics Nav. Read the full article to explore this amazing feature: www.navstorm.com/.../query-excel-powerview-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2103-r2.html

Hello, I click on the textbox to answer Faizan's question, but system popups "Flag as spam/abuse" and now it is "Flagged as spam/abuse" :-( Sorry for my mistake! How can I reverse it?

About Faizan's question, my Query and Excel Report tool can help you with FlowField and change Display Name. You can take a look at my post community.dynamics.com/.../134939.aspx

    Thanks and best regards.

"Classic solution": You can also create an SQL view, joining all the info you need and renaming your fields. Then connect with Excel for reporting :-)

    Hello,

The easiest way, if you are using NAV2013 (or +) is to just extract the info using the export to excel feature.

If that does not work because you need to change the names of the fields, and you do not want to change the table/page, the second way I would recommend is to create a query with all the fields you need, and in that query you can type your new name for each field (it won't affect the standard client) and then publish it as a webservice to access it afterwards from excel.

ok, but how do peons do it who don't know jack about HTML porting?

If I want to export a field into Excel and don't have access to the raw tables, how do I do that if the field doesn't appear on the available-for-excel list?  And how do I avoid having to rearrange my screen view of the fields, and then manually restore them if I'm only interested in a field that I normally have hidden from view?

if you are using NAV 2013, then use XML ports to export data from the table.

Yes you can change it as you want. Design a table and then select the column you want to change the caption and then go to properties. In that you will see a "Caption" change its value as you want.
