Exporting views as XML and then saving as a standalone Excel - not working

Hello all,

I exported a view into Excel from CRM 2013. It opened fine in Excel. However when I manipulate the data in there - add charts etc. I save the file in both XML and as an Excel worksheet with Macros enabled.

I am finding that when I save as an XML. If I close the file down and re-open, my charts are missing.

Also, if I save as an Excel sheet, and then re-open - I am finding that it corrupts the data.

How should I be doing this?

I've run into this as well. The data will export to XML by default, and then when I save it as a regular .xlsx I still experience the same problems with formatting and formulas. To get around this, I usually open a blank Excel spreadsheet, copy the data from the XML and paste *as values* into the blank sheet, then save it as .xlsx. That usually allows me the formatting and charting capabilities I'm accustomed to with Excel.

If you want the data to be Dynamic and not corrupt once you save as a *XLSX with Macros enables*, then make sure you go to Data > Connections in the Excel Tabs; and check to make sure they are valid.

I've messed a few reports up myself after combining too many connections on 1 XLSX sheet. Doing the above will fix the problem.
