ReportReport
Posted on by 3,460

I have a custom Entity, and I would like to open a report in excell by pressing a button on the grid form  of the entity (where all the records are collected of that entity).

I made a report in the report tool of crm, but i dont know how to pass parameters to the link:
http://[xxxx]/crmreports/viewer/viewer.aspx?id=%7b74EE3BB2-0929-E411-B45A-005056974C70%7d

I know i have to make a jscipt and use ribbonworkbench but i dont know how to open the report.
I would also like to download the report in Excell format, after clicking the button.

I will be needing 2 buttons on the form: one to show teh report, and one to donwload the report in excell ...

    Hi Letoir,

Yes, you need to create javascript code and use ribbon or Iframe to display the report.

    Here is the example:

    http://rajeevpentyala.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/opening-a-report-using-ribbon-button-in-crm-2011/

    For Iframe:

    http://mscrmshop.blogspot.com/2012/02/step-by-step-tutorial-to-add-crm-report.html

    And

    http://www.develop1.net/public/post/Embedding-CRM-reports-in-IFrames-using-the-CRM2011-Report-Viewer.aspx

If you notice, the dynamic key is jus after the id=

But, you are actually can use pre-filtered report, which you don't need anymore and don't bother to how to pass the Id as parameter.

    This is the example:

So, this is the links that might be useful for you:

    http://www.powerobjects.com/blog/2012/05/31/microsoft-dynamics-crm-pre-filtering-for-crm-reporting/

    And

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531099.aspx

    http://nishantrana.me/2014/07/06/using-pre-filtering-in-fetch-xml-based-report-in-crm-2013-online/

I used that method, so basically, I don't need to pass any custom code to call my report, this is a great feature that worth to try.

As I know, you can go to the Report and save to excel.

But, you should run the report, because you need to render the report before you export to excel.

After you run the report, you can save to Excel.

No need to do customization on anything.

    Hope this helps you.

    Thank you.
