AX 2009 Enterprise Portal - SharePoint Installation doubt

Hi again,

I'm not sure which way to go for SharePoint installation, "Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Installation Guide" gives only two options:

  1. Install Enterprise Portal and Role Centers on Windows SharePoint Services,
  2. Install Enterprise Portal and Role Centers on Office SharePoint Server

But I’m installing “Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010” which is listed as a supported platform (configured as stand-alone not as farm).

 Q1

Please confirm that Office SharePoint is the “right” route. AFAIK, Foundation it’s the “free” version of Office SharePoint option.

 Q2

Any heads-up with any patch? Given the fact that I’m running Win Server 2008 R2

Supported versions of Microsoft SharePoint are (AFAIK):

    • Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010
    • Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010
    • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Enterprise Edition with Service Pack 1
    • Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2

You can choose. Nevertheless it wouldn't make much sense installing old versions.

Software requirements for SharePoint Foundation 2010 are documented here.

When we consider from side of installing and configuration , WSS is ok. because I've deployed EP in SharePoint 2010 and WSS 3.0 Sp1 but there is no significant differences.

So my succession is if you don't have specific requirements carry on with WSS .

    thanks & Regards,

    Many Thanks Amith,

WSS proved to be easier an easier installation -at least for me-.

    Be Well.
