Workplace tab gone from the main menu

Hi guys,

I hope someone can help me by posting a link or just explaining me how to fix the below issue.

This morning the Workplace tab just disappeared from the main menu. I'm using 2016 on prem. Not really sure how to get it back. The only change I've made lately was to uninstall a 3rd party addon yesterday morning but everything was fine up until now. Some users can still see that but once they restart the browser they will lose it.

Thanks

    Booby,

It seems browser cache issue. Clear all cookies and then retry

Please reset IIS and try again. Please using XrmToolBox to check if Workplace tab is present under main menu.

You can use the default sitemap to check what has changed in your sitemap.

Thank you so much guys for suggestions but I'm afraid nothing worked

Mohd, Workplace is not showing in the main menu using XrmToolBox. Is that good or bad news. Sorry never had the chance to use xrmtoolbox before

Seems like uninstalling the 3rd party addon removed the workplace tab from your sitemap.

If you refresh/restart your browser you are reloading your cache which no longer holds the workplace tab.

    So that is normal behaviour.

Just add it back with the sitemap editor in the xrmtoolbox. (or copy it from your test environment)

ps: PLEASE prior to updating your sitemap, ALWAYS save your original sitemap first. You will have a bigger problem if you lose the entire changes to the sitemap without a backup :).

Also: if uninstalling that 3rd party application removed a part of the sitemap, it might be a good idea to verify all entities/processes that that 3rd party application touched to see what else might be missing.

RE: Workplace tab gone from the main menu

Thank you so much Wouter, I have managed to add the calendar addon(the only thing showing in the Workplace before) using the tool in the Sales tab. As temporary solution. I would like to add back the Workplace in the sitemap it would be even better. Are you aware of a link that explains the settings in more details? Is just the first time I'm using the xrmtoolbox.

Also I have checked after I uninstalled the solutions several contacts to see if there are any changes and couldn't find anything. Even the Workplace was available 24 hours after uninstalling the addon and users lost it after restarting the CRM. Any suggestions about how to check and what to check?

    Thank you.

RE: Workplace tab gone from the main menu

    1. Create a new solution for Sitemap.

    2. Add Sitemap component in this solution.

    3. Publish the solution and export the solution.

    4. Keep a backup copy of your sitmap.

    5. After the solution is exported, extract the files from the compressed .zip file.

    6. In the customizations.xml file, open it and make an entry for Workplace using the default sitempa in this link.

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334280.aspx

    7. Save , Rezip and import the solution again.

    8. Publish all.

If you can't do it send your solution containing sitemap zip file.

    Hi Bobby,

its because your sitemap has changed after uninstalling that add on.

CRM 2016 anyway does not have 'workplace' as area. What you need to do is:

if you have any development environment with the same sitemap (including workplace)

Go to settings>>solutions>>New Solution>>Name it and then add component called sitemap>>save and export this solution. Later import it to your production environment

Step 1: Install the add on again and check if you get workplace back, if yes check step 2

Step 2: Go to settings>>solutions>>New Solution>>Name it and then add component called sitemap>>save and export this solution.

Step 3: Uninstall the add on

Step 4: Import the sitemap solution

Thank you Prashant, the uninstalled solution was the marketing addon from silverpop that has just been discontinued so I won't be able to install it back. What's strange is that the Workplace appeared in my 2013 version once I've installed another addon(calendar) and have been advised that it can only show in the Workplace. Which is not true because I've just managed to add a calendar link to the Sales Tab using the xrmtoolbox.
