Creating Items from Items - Assembly? Not sure

Hi

I need assistance.

I purchase 2 X Products by using Purchasing Process.

I then need to combine these two products to make a product I can sell.

I need to be able to track the "batch" purchased and will need to focus on the Ratio of the combination.

I need the quantity of the two Items to decrease in quantity and value and then the quantity of the combined (end product) to be the total quantity and value of the two Items purchased.

I.O.W

Item A - 3000 TONS at $150 per TON = $450 000

Item B - 4500 TONS at $200 per TON = $900 000

Combined

Item C - 7500 TONS at $180 per TON = $1350 000

If the process is simply blending the two products together and doesn't require a defined sequence of events, Assembly Management is the right choice.  If combining the two products has to follow a sequence of events, Manufacturing with a defined Routing is the right choice.

Assembly Management should be fairly straight forward.  On Item C, set the Replenishment System to Assembly.  Where it says Assembly BOM "No", click the word No.  This will open the Assembly BOM and allow you to define the requirements of Item A (Quantity = .4 TON) and Item B (Quantity = .6 TON).

Go to the Assembly Order list, select New, select Item C and a Quantity of 7500 TON.  You should see the Assembly Line Items and Quantities fill in with the 3000 and 4500 quantities as defined in your Assembly BOM.

Reaching out to your BC partner for training would be a good next step to learn about automating creation of the Assembly Order based on Demand or Stocking Policies.

You can use Assembly Management for this, or you can also use Manufacturing. However, Manufacturing requires a premium license. Refer these links for understanding Assembly Management v/s Manufacturing.
