Microsoft Dynamics RMS (Archived)

Upgrading from SQL2000 to 2012 With RMS 2.0.0123

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

As a very small business I want to try to do this myself so any help would be appreciated.  We have purchased a new computer (windows 8) to run the pos and server database.  I need to keep the existing pos on line until I have the new system ready to switch out.

On the new system I've installed SQL 2012 express.  I've also upload the basic RMS 2.0 from the disk.  I have download the our current database existing.

When I go into the RMS Admin and try to connect to the SQL database it won't connect.  So I'm guessing that I need to install a more current version of the RMS (on my current production pos i'm running 2.0.0123, but I don't have the disk to even install this).  Is there a place to download (hopefully for free) the current revision of RMS.

Based on your knowledge will this fix the problem?

Is there any conversion needed in the actual database from the 2.0.0123 version of RMS.

Is there a procedure that I can follow that is available.

Again any help would be appreciate.

SQL2k12 will not work with that version of RMS.  Only 2.0.1000 or higher will.

To download RMS and all it hotfixes/Service/Feature Packs, you must be on MS' Maintenance plan and have access to CustomerSource here; mbs.microsoft.com/customersource

After you install the latest version, you must upgrade to the latest database in SO Admin | File | Connect | enter your password | Database | Upgrade    BACKUP FIRST!!

Why are you not on the basic Maintenance plan for .52 per day per lane?  190.40 / 365
