I have tried to setup a new currency, pound, in my company but at the point of clicking on account it gives this message." "you can't select accounts for this currency.

I went into Tools =>setup=> system=> currency then I choose the currency from the list after which I click on account at the bottom and that is the time I get the message "you can't select accounts for this currency; Gedco company does not have access to this company". Can someone please assist.

Thank you.

    RE: Setting up Currency

Thanks Soma. I do have multicurrency registration because I have been working with other currency. Just that the pound sterling is not yet setup.

When I did what Frank advice to grant access from admin that worked but it is not allowing me to enter a exchange rate.

    Thank you.

    RE: Setting up Currency

Thank you Frank. I have done that but it is now not allowing me to enter an exchange rate at the point of entering the payable it is telling me that a default rate type is not assigned.

I went back to admin >> setup>> system >> exchange rate but notice that  it wanted me to setup different rates so I did not save instead I went into cards >>system>>exchange table and there I see assigning exchange rate table from the help menu I did that but it still asking me for exchange rate type when I check it in payables. Could you please advise what to do?

In the other currency that was already setup I notice that the type is there and the exchange rate window is bold and it allows you edit  the exchange rate that you want to use but in the one that I set up that exchange rate section is greyed out.

    Thank you.

Check if you have Multi-Currency enabled in your registration window(Tools-->Setup-->System-->Registration).

For more detail about using Multi-Currency, please have a look on the below KB article.

You need to go into Multicurrency Access under Administration>>Setup>>System and grant the company access to the currency.
