Personalization function does not work in BC14

Hi guys,

I have a big problem with the personalize function in BC 14 CU 20.

I can select the personalize function, I can also select fields, but when I add them for example in the Chart of Accounts, the new field is not placed.

I also cannot swap columns or hide the "Notes" field.

Thus, three important personalization functions do not work for me at all.

Have you had something like this? It might be important to know that our current BC was created by an upgrade from NAV2013. Maybe we are missing some setting on the server?

Thank you ;)

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

unfortunately this behavior affects all users.

I have already posted a ticket at Microsoft, but unfortunately the employees do not really know how to solve this issue...we have been trying to clarify this for a few weeks, but no one can really explain the behavior. I think that something happened due to the upgrade, which disturbs the function of personalizing...

It happens with all role centers unfortunately. I have now tried the same functions in other role centers and again nothing happens.

What do you mean with clearing the page?:

"you could perhaps make a copy of the role and then clear personalized pages to see if that does help?"

    Thank you ;)

    Hello,

Does this happen for all users / all role center? You could perhaps make a copy of the role and then clear personalized pages to see if that does help.

Alternatively, you can raise a request to Microsoft.

I have to inform you that I have forwarded you wrong information:

The NAV that was upgraded was not a NAV 2013, but a NAV 2015. Maybe this is important for you to know.

The upgrade was then performed directly from NAV 2015 to BC 14, without going through an intermediate version.

After the upgrade, the customer then initially used BC 14 CU 1 and in this version it was possible for them to personalize pages and so on (but even here the personalization did not work properly).

Since this was only a temporary CU, we updated to CU 7 or CU 8, where the personalization no longer worked, and since then this error has continued to affect all the CUs to which we have updated.

Do you still think it makes sense to execute the generatesymbolreference - command even though personalizing has worked before?

Thank you for your help. I will try what you said and will inform you, if we could solve the problem. Have you had similiar problems with the personalization function?

    Hello,

Since you mention that this is an upgraded database, make sure to generate symbols:

    finsql.exe Command=generatesymbolreference

    as described here:

Running C/SIDE and AL Side-by-Side - Business Central | Microsoft Docs

Also then from the dev client run Tools -> "Build Object Search Objects" and "Sync Schema,".

Personalizatio uses Symbols to know what is available, so symbols need to be there.

If this does not help then also check it vs a standard CRONUS database to know if it "should" work.

    hope that helps.
