One ADFS server with two deployments of Dynamics 365?

Hi,

We're planning our on-prem deployment of our IFD D365.

We're reverse proxying from the internet to the ADFS and CRM Servers.

We are going to have two sets of servers one for Live and one for UAT, all in the same domain.  With one exception the ADFS server.

Does anyone know if we can use just one ADFS server for two IFD deployments of D365?

Many thanks

Si

    I don't remember ever having tested this configuration, but I can't see any problem with one ADFS server serving multiple IFD deployments. Each deployment will have separate relying party trusts, and they shouldn't interfere with each other

    It would work but you could also have issues discussed here that can be worked around.

    The question is if the Workaround works for you and your organization.

    Thanks Andreas, that last link is great and explains the issues with a previous versions.   At least are aware of a potential issue, fingers crossed the CRM Team have fixed it.

    Yes, this is definitely possible.

    We have done this using single ADFS server for multiple deployments of CRM (even different versions), as well as having load balanced ADFS Servers.

    You just need to create different Relying Party trusts for each CRM deployment. Each CRM Deployment has a different Federation Metadata url, which is where the Relying Party Trusts in ADFS are pointing to.

    do you have any step by step instruction on how to setup two crm servers and one adfs. I have configured 1 crm server and adfs with ifd working. I have installed and configured a second crm server and want to also have it with ifd.

    I have the following set

    dns: adfs=192.168.16.3

    auth=192.168.16.3

    dev=192.168.16.3

    org=192.168.16.3

    auth1=192.168.16.4

    dev1=192.168.16.4

    org of second crm=192.168.16.4

    crm1 and adfs are on the same server. 192.168.16.3

    crm2 is on second server 192.168.16.4

    if I create a second relay party I have to use the url auth1.domain.co.uk/federationmeta....xml. this fails. if I put this in a browser I get 500 error, but it works when pointing to adfs server.

    scanner are you able to resolve the scenario ? if yes please share details about having 1 ADFS and multiple CRM deployments.

    Specifically ADFS and DNS settings to be done for that.

    Thanks

    Please share example of DNS and ADFS settings, where we have 1 ADFS and 2 or more CRM IFD deployments

    Thanks
