Thanks in advance

Re: Infinite scheduling on manufacturing: Backward or Forward?

There is no finite scheduling in GP Mfg.   All planned orders assume infinite capacity.  Via the use of Smartlists (method I usually suggest) and CRP (if owned) you can get visibility to the capacity.   Most of my clients do not own CRP (Capacity Requirements Planning) but the planners know what the capacity is and by view the orders scheduled.   With Smartlist Builder, you can connect the MO tables with the routing tables and get a better view to the workcenter load.   There is also a Workcenter load report which I have not utilized much.

Re: Infinite scheduling on manufacturing: Backward or Forward?

Forward scheduling - you select the RELEASE date of the manufacturing order and the system plans the schedule 'forward' from that date.

Backward scheduling - you select the DUE date of the manufacturing order and the system plans the schedule (including the order release date) backward from the due date.

Finite - the system takes into account resource constraints in planning orders.

Infinite - the system ignores resource constraints (assumes you have 'infinite' resources) in planning orders.
