Train your in-house marketing team

Marketing is a tricky business. People sometimes put way too much money in and get nothing in return while many people put in no money and expect great results. A small cost is always needed, but it doesn’t have to break the bank. Start by training your in-house marketing team to do the job without much hassle. You can save a lot of money this way. Here’s a few tips for training your in-house team.

Getting your training started

It is important that you get started right away with training if your marketing is ever going to be successful. The Search Engine Journal offers a few suggestions for this training. Though the search engine journal is referring specifically to training new graduates, the same applies for any kind of marketing team you may have. They include:

Start simple: You need to start with the basics. They won’t be able to come up with new ideas to bring in more business and become more strategic with their marketing strategies if they don’t already have some kind of idea of the basics. Start with basic social media marketing, mobile marketing, and SEO strategies. Then, let them decide ways to bring in more business and new, innovative approaches.

Get them stuck in: Every new hire will be nervous at first. They will be afraid to make mistakes, especially if you are a little too overbearing or big into micromanaging. Show them the basics and then leave. Let them jump in. Check on their results, but don’t tell them every little thing to do. Be willing to answer questions, but encourage them to find their own strategies. It will be easier for them to do a good job and come up with new ideas if they don’t feel like they are being constantly watched.

Ensure they are happy and value them: Your marketing team won’t be successful if they are not happy to come to work. Maybe the work environment is too stressful or they don’t have any fun. Make work a fun place to be and offer them incentives for meeting goals. Show they they are valued by listening to their ideas, complementing them every chance you get, and being willing to make changes to the company based on their perspective. Hold company Christmas parties and buy cakes on birthdays. It can make all the difference.

Avoiding all the marketing work

If you really don’t want to do any of the marketing because it is time-consuming or too difficult to arrange, you can instead just do pay per call. With the pay per call market, you will only have to pay when a quality lead calls in for more information about your product or service, and you let someone else do all the hard work of marketing your business. It is much easier and much more cost-effective for a lot of businesses.
