Kit Explosion via Sales order dynamics sl 2015

I am having the hardest time gathering the original value of the inventory ID of a kit before explosion in dynamics sl 2015.

I see that on the 4010007 screen there is a cexpkitid field that is left blank (nothing is passed to it, yet I can access it) and the buffer and object value of the inventory ID on the original sales order are set to nothing throughout the steps used for kit explosion. The check event for the inventory ID on the sales order is initiated after the explosion kit screen is called.

Any suggestions? or Is this a bug?
