RapidStart use and experiences

Hello,

Being fairly new to the world of Dynamics AX we are looking at utilising RapidStart for our add-on, but so far our perception is that support for the tool in the user community (both partners and clients) is luke-warm.

We've had a quick look at RapidStart and agree the concept is sound and moving in the right direction, but about the majority of the people we talk to do not use the tool. Why is that? Too much work setting up, not enough benefit or performance/functionality issues?

Would anyone be willing to share their opinion and experiences?

    My current experience is that installing and setting things up isn't necessarily a "walk in the park". Furthermore, there are several issues after setting it up where you want to load data from the cloud into your AX2012 instances.

    I can imagine the experience doesn't get too far before partners start to search for alternative solutions, especially if time is of the essence. However, personally I have not given up the product and concept and want to push my own knowledge around it and perhaps also help Microsoft improve the end user experience of it.

    I am also eager to hear what others are thinking and experiencing.

    Thanks for bringing this topic. I'm Deepak Kumar and I work as the Program Manager for this tool. In the last 4 months we have done several on-site Workshops across the Europe & USA to show the value of the tool. Folks - who have used this has seen incredible value in terms of productivity & standardization of their implementation. I'll be very happy to look into your feedback on ways to make this tool better for you all.

    I can setup a 2 hour online deep-dive sessions for the community if there is enough interest. Please comment on this thread for me to gauge the interest in this deep-dive.

    Hi Deepak

    I would definitely love to get two hours to pick your brain (and the rest of the team if possible). Maybe it would be just about enough to get some answers on some of the things I'm still wondering about.

    I am though getting decent help from the Support Team, but a deep-dive session from a technical perspective would at least for me be beneficial.

    the new version of rapidstart is integrating with DMF which will be more usefull, reliable and fast

    just curious, as I was not able to check RapidStart so far - does it allow to import initial data from other systems as well?

    and regarding RapidStart usage - after login to web page I was asked to confirm that our company is aware of.. and so on; asked our MS-contact guru to have look and accept what is needed, he did so ~2 weeks ago, and since that when I am trying to get to webpage of Rapid Start I still have:

    does anyone know how long it may take to be able to use RapidStart?

    I appreciate the fact that people need an extended session with Microsoft, but my question was about sharing opinions and experiences.
