Dynamics GP - GPO / Intune / SCCM Deployment

Good Morning!

As Microsoft moves away from legacy installs, and system imaging as the preferred method of system deployment, I was hoping that we'd had some progress on the silent/pushed installers.

I've gotten close -- 21 separate installer calls in a batch file, to get everything installed to handle all the prerequisites, and associated smartconnect etc... other addons that we use.

I say close, because silent installs have a problem with the constructed GP msi.

The very first time you do it on a machine, it usually works without problem, however if you're reinstalling, or upgrading, then it's got (so far) an insurmountable problem.

Our environment uses a shared UNC path for the admin_forms_dictionary_folder, admin_reports_dictionary_folder and admin_letters_folder -- we want everyone working from the same set of them.

As I said.. first install A-OK.

Subsequent installs, we get an error message about not having admin privileges (running as administrator, with full access to the share) and when we manually intervene, clicking the OK button twice, we can move on and everything works.

But that's the problem... manual intervention.

I have used Autoit, AutoHotkey, Powershell, C# -- everything I've been able to think of throwing at it, and because the installer is ... something.. not installshield, not even something using wpf or windows forms, I can't automate clicking those OK's.

So I'm looking for assistance in making a truly silent install, that can be pushed through Intune (ideally, as this is "the future") or SCCM scripting.

Anyone who's got this working reliably and well, I'd be grateful!

Roger

    Hi Roger,

Did you find a solution to this issue?  We're just starting to try this, and I wondered if you had any tips. I don't see any other threads about this issue anywhere.  Although we plan to shift to D365 in about 18 months, I'm hoping for something to tide us over.

    Thanks,

    Alice
