Thanks for the additional clarification, Jsabanovski.
In this case, the produced item has a cost price which is used on sales transactions as COGS. The details of consumed material and labor are part of the production transactions. You can get some insights from the production module or use the cost accounting features. Potentially, you would need to create a custom report for specific requirements. In the past, I was involved in an implementation where we created a new batch number per production order and included this dimension in financial cost to be able to analyze every single detail of manufacturing cost and expected rebates on purchased items.
Thanks for providing some additional information. How exactly do you post the labor today? Are you using manufacturing or project management features? Or it is an entry on the sales order?
Andre - I apologize for the vagueness of my question. Yes, I would like to analyze the labor versus consumed material costs. What I'm trying to do for my company coming in as their new CFO is somehow analyze our financial information to show the COGS broken down between consumed labor and material costs. I would also love to figure out how I can do that on the sales side as well. It would be great to pull up my trial balance from D365 F&O and see the Sales and COGS accounts broken down by labor and material costs. I have dimension currently set that breaks down Sales and COGS by customer, but I would love to go further and brake it down between materials and labor.
We are a contract packaging company that has two different entities that deal with toll and turn-key manufacturing. We charge for straight labor on one side (with customer supplied materials for the most part), and labor and materials on the other side (with us purchasing the materials and selling it back with an upcharge plus labor). I hope that helps...
The estimated costs and revenues tab in the WBS in Dynamics 365 Project Operations allows you to estimate and track costs for labor, materials, and expenses for each task.
Can you elaborate on your question? Are you using manufacturing and want to analyze the labor versus consumed material costs? Or do you want to have a split of the inventory cost in your ledger? Please provide some more information, so we would be able to understand your complete requirement.
