Sections on quick create forms

Hi,

I have an option set field, that based on it's values I have to show and hide some fields.

Some values of the option set has lot of fields that must be shown on the form.

I have made a business rule for it but it's a big one(specially on dynamics 365,with that graphical view) and very hard to handle it and some fields may be missed out.

so any ideas to do it the easiest way.

I have thinned about different quick create form, but don't know how to load different form based on the option set value, also have to put the option set field on the parent form.

I also don't know how to added section to quick create form.

May adding buttons to parent form based on the option set value(that is 7) be a good idea!

Regards

    Hello,

Unfortunately you cannot add different section in the quick create form , this is by design. I think business rules is the good way to do this , you can resize the screen while configuring BR with that you can also see the text expression. If you think that your BR size is big  then you could split the BR into multiple BR with same logic but different fields show hide.

If you still thinking that what you could do , then the options is to go with JS . But my recommend is to use BR instead of code as you can easily do this without code and configurable way.

    Hi

You cannot add more sections to a quick create form please see below

"Quick create forms always have one section with three columns. You can’t add additional sections or columns."

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/customize/create-edit-quick-create-forms#edit-a-quick-create-form

Adding multiple quick create form may not be a very good option as your javascript may not execute in the same way as expected in all the different clients like outlook and mobile.

You can consider using the normal form to have multiple sections and tabs and if you have loads of fields to hide and show, perhaps, you could group them into sections and based on the options set a field value, you could hide the entire section or tab. This option is only applicable if you are willing to go for the normal main form.

If using the main form is not an option for you due to your requirements, and if quick create form is the only option you have, then you have the following methods as options to accomplish what you need.

    01. You can still do this using business rule (BR) but divide into multiple BRs binding to the same option set and hiding different set or group of fields. This way you could manage the BRs a bit easier.

    02. Another option is javascript. Whenever we have a scenario where we need to hide and show loads of fields, javascript is always a good option as well.  If you use javascript, if you set all the fields to be hidden by default and only show based on the condition, you might be able to do this easily.

Let us know of your requirement and which options sound more suitable to you and then we should definitely be able to help you with some examples or point to the right resources

Then you should split your BR into multiple rules which looks better I guess .

    Thnx,

I think using the main form will handle the problem, and it doesn't take much time.

working with the BR is something I won't go for it.

    Thank for your support
