Upgrading from CRM 2016 to D365 and need to lock the database to mark it read only....

Hello,

We are wanting to lock our database down to read only so that the users can still see the data just can't make any changes while we perform the upgrade to D365.  When I had my DB team make the database as read only, I then couldn't even get to the environment to see anything.  So my question is, how can I have the database as read only and still get into CRM for that environment to see the data.  Or, can we not do this and the users will just have to wait until the upgrade is complete?

Thank you.

I was able to create a workflow that would update all users to just read only access.  Thank you.

I would add all the security roles in a solution and export them as a backup.

Next I would just open all the roles used by users (use the user report for an easy overview) and remove all write / create actions.

That way they can still read the system but not make any alterations.
