Hi,

Looking for advice on freeing up space in this table. I have seen the other posts in the community about this and already run the Bulk Deletion job to clear the CaseTopicExtraction a few days ago, the table has increased in size since, but it is still too large and needs to be reduced a lot more. It only started to increase dramatically a few months back.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have a Support Case open with Microsoft but I dont expect any good advice there.

Thanks
Ted

I should have said in my original post that the table has decreased in size since I ran the bulk deletion job and not increased in size, but still far too large and we are way over our limit on file storage.
    Thanks

    Hello,

There are different ways to free up space in a table, depending on the database system and the table structure. Some of the common methods are:

    • Shrinking the table: This method reduces the size of the table by removing the unused space and compacting the data. However, this method may not work if the table has a lot of fragmentation, or if the table is not in an auto-shrinkable tablespace. Shrinking the table may also affect the performance and the index quality of the table.
    • Rebuilding the table: This method creates a new copy of the table with the same data and structure, but without the unused space and fragmentation. This method can free up more space than shrinking, but it also requires more time and resources. Rebuilding the table may also require dropping and recreating the indexes and constraints on the table. DogNeedsBest
    • Moving the table: This method moves the table to a different tablespace or filegroup, where there is more free space available. This method can also reduce the fragmentation and improve the performance of the table. However, this method may require additional storage space and permissions, and it may also affect the availability and the security of the table.

Before you apply any of these methods, you should backup your table and your database, and test the method on a non-production environment. You should also consider the impact of the method on your application and your users, and choose the method that best suits your needs and goals.

I hope this information helps you to free up space in your table. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me.
