Original Hire Date Change

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

An original start date is incorrect for an employee. She was entered as a rehire, but it was actually a promotion. How do we edit the original start date to reflect on full profile?

    Hello CPSR,

That sounds like a plan - if you could mark one of the suggestions here as the overall answer, as well, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks again for your question!!

If it happens again, I will try the times instead of the dates.  Thanks!

    Hello CPSR,

Good afternoon - your last comment would have been my next suggestion, but if you are seeing times are overlapping, sometimes it also requires checking the time of day when the last record ends and the new one begins, i.e. 11:59 pm on the previous record and 12:00 am on the next, or make it a full day between. With positions, overlapping dates is usually the trickiest part.

We tried to do that, but were getting an error message that times overlapped. As a temporary fix we edited the term date for the one position to end one day after the entered date and then edited the current position to start that date and never end.

    Hi CPSR,

You can go to the employment history of the employee. There is a button called Date manager. If you open that form, you are able to correct the employment start date. Similar features are available for the position.
