Dynamics 365 - Business Process Flow display issue

Posted on by 1,266

Hi all

Recently upgraded an online Sandbox instance to 365 and am having issues with Business Process Flows not display the stages until you manually click the scroll buttons.  I've opened a ticket with Microsoft and have supplied multiple screenshots of the issue, had three remote sessions to demonstrate and also supplied a video.  Their last email requested I supply a screenshot of the issue I am experiencing...

Here's how the BPF looks when we first load the screen.  Not stages are displayed.

Clicking the right scroll arrow followed by the left scroll arrow will then display it correctly.

Not a show stopper for upgrade but is going to be massively frustrating for the sales team having to scroll.

Has anybody else encountered a similar issue?

    Hi Lee

I think they're possibly different issues here as our issue happens irrespective of when the record was created (pre or post upgrade) but we also experienced the issue you detailed when moving from 8.0 to 8.1.  I believe it was due to a bug in the upgrade corrupting current BPFs.  I had a ticket open with Microsoft about it but in the weeks it took them to start investigating we ended up having to duplicate the existing BPF and then using a bulk workflow job to switch the BPF of the corrupted records to the new duplicated BPF.  We did attempt to amend the traversed paths of the existing corrupted process flows by copying guids etc but it ended up corrupting some BPFs further.

For what it's worth our display issue is caused by the CSS of the BPF as shown below.  The margin-left is way out by default for BPFs with multiple stages.  Apparently being fixed in the 8.2.1.0408 release.

    Hi Luke,

I'm seeing the exact same issue. Did you ever get a solution to this?

My scenario is using a branching BPF and does not occur for new records created in the upgraded system, only on ones that already existed before the upgrade. I have edited the traversed path for these records as they were originally showing all previous stages including ones from different branches in the process e.g. a record on branch 2 stage 3 before the upgrade would show all stages from branch 1 as complete and then branch 2 with stage 1, 2 complete and stage 3 as active.
