Dynamics CRM 2015 SQL Server compatibility

Based on this article, the only versions of SQL Server that are supported by Dynamics CRM 2015 are SQL Server 2012 SP1 and SQL Server 2014. There is no additional documentation I could find regarding any other service packs or cumulative updates for SQL Server. If these are the only supported SQL Server options, then if i wanted to install Dynamics CRM 2015, I would need to use a SQL Server version that is unsupported by Microsoft ( 2012 SP1 support ended 2015-07-14, 2014 RTM support ended 2016-07-12).


Is this my only option? use unsupported SQL Server?

    Hi rklimes, my name is Andrés Guzmán, and I'm glad to help you.

    The supported was finished for those versions but the compatibility is enable for those versions if you need to install it. If you create a suport case the Microsoft team can  help you in the "best effort" mode and they can't create a bug fix for you, but the other options will be available for you.

    My recommendations is install in the version that you have and, in a short period of time make the migration to a new SQL Server version (2014, 2016).

    Hi, I'd also like some clarification to this question. We currently run CRM 2015 alongside SQL 2012 SP1, but would like to update to SP3. It seems crazy that MS only list a version of SQL which is out of support.

    Be interested to hear from anyone out there using SQL 2012 SP3 alongside CRM 2015.
