Copy Items from one company to another

Posted on by 140

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a tool or way to easily copy an inventory item from one company to another.  We have a processing company and a selling company.  Only some of the items need to copied from the processing company over to the selling company.

Thanks,

Karen

Thank you Mahmoud!  I just tested the macro in GP and it worked perfectly.

The suggestion about Professsional Services Tools Library is, I think, not exactly what you want to do.  However, going forward, the PSTL has a tool called Master Triggers that will allow you to set up inventory items in one company and they will be automatically copied to other companies (you specify which ones).  This will not work for existing items.

If your source inventory list is not long, you could export IV00101 and IV00102 to Excel, delete any items you already have or do not want in the target company, and import these using a Macro or Integration manager.  Do not do a table import as many support tables will be missed.

BTW...Accolade has a book on PSTL as well as 30 other GP topics.  Visit our web site at www.AccoladePublications.com

There are actually several easy ways to accomplish your task, according to the specific requirements you have.

First of all, in case you want to copy only items (regardless of any further associated details, such as site and vendor assignment and item classes)

    • Macro, which would be the preferred method to me.
    • Integration Manager.

In case you want to move all your inventory master files, the PSTL (Professional Service Tool Library) would be the ultimate most efficient and effective solution.

Some experts prefer the DB insert, IV00101 through IV00109 (based on your setup), which is a relevant and application solution as well, which requires a bit of tables and SQL knowledge.

use Professional Services Tools Library. Select Company copy, click Next, Mark Inventory.
