D365-POS Gift Card process Extension/ Modification

Hello Everyone,

I have a requirement to update the flow of gift card issuance process from default. It has to be printed in Head-office on custom cards and sent to Stores, from where its gonna be issued and activated.

I have sorted out 2 options,

1- Either I create new custom Operation and assign it to custom Gift Card button and hide the default one

2- Or i will update the flow of default through Extension.

In both cases I need some reference to customize, because in AX 2012 retail under Services we can update Gift card project, the whole functionality and source code is available. however in D365 its bit confusing.

PS: I have already checked Gift Card Balance Ext project in sample Extensions but not much help. it just add expiry date of gift card inquiry screen.

    Custom screen will be defiantly better, if you are ready to do those customizations.

    If it's related to validation other solution is

    - You can add pre trigger in IssueGiftCard and AddToGiftCard X++ method of real time service and do validation.  All gift card operation goes though real-time service, you can use advantage of that.

    Dear Ram,

    Thanks for your time and valuable suggestion, I agree with your recommended default functionality.

    But it has some loopholes and operator data entry possibilities of mistake. because either He/ She put wrong amount or serial number(in case of no bar-code reader) and payment is done.

    Custom POS screen will validate the issued serial numbers and Amount will be picked from available custom Form/table.

    Hi,

    Gift cards can be setup in FinOps as serial product and you can print those serial number on custom card.  docs.microsoft.com/.../set-up-gift-cards

    These will act as gift cards and can be shared with cashier, so that he can issue to customer.  Usually, gift cards are issued on POS using 'issue gift card' operation.  

    With above detail, you can achieve your requirement of printing from Back office and Issue from POS. I do not understand the reason for customization and what exactly you want to do with customization. Can you please explain more?
