Database Mirroring Support for NAV2009R2 or NAV2013

Hi,

I have just read the following article from Microsoft about database mirroring support for Dynamics NAV: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937005. Quoting the last paragraph:

In summary, a SQL Server database for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 can be configured for mirroring on the SQL Server 2005 platform. However, transparent client redirection cannot be easily configured on the client. This is because the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 client does not use the SQL Native Client driver.

does anyone know whether transparent client redirection can be supported on NAV2009R2 or NAV2013? Has anyone have set it up successfully for dynamics NAV? If you can share the information, I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jim

    Hi

I have done mirroring with a manual cut-over with no problems, and this article seems to point to the auto cut-over being the problem, would the manual not work for the client?

It would basically entail the IT guys bringing the new DB online and changing the config files on the RTC client to point at the new server,

At the client i worked on they also unplugged the broken server's network cable just to be on the safe side

I suspect you could write a SQL script to do most of the work as well if you needed to speed up the cut over, but for us it was just a works instruction stuck on the side of the server cabinet
