Dear colleagues,
I can not find any documentation with information if it's needed to buy separete license for every single worker, work user (configured in Warehouse management/Setup/Work users/Worker) or for each mobile device.
Imagine the situation where we have 10 workers (2 shifts, 5 workers per shift). Company decided to buy 5x mobile devices to work using Warehouse mobile device portal. Due to the fact that there will be 3 different places with Zebra printers our plan was to create appropriate document routing using queries and creating 3 different work users (user's ID) for every worker. Depending on which ID worker will decide to log in, AX will send label to propper printer basing on query with user's ID.
Example:
WH1-Marcin
WH2-Marcin
FoLift-Mar
To sum up we should have 3 user's ID x 10 wokers = 30 user's ID working on 5 mobile devices.
Which type and how many licenses should company buy so 5 workers per shift could process warehouse works using WMDP opened via internet explorer (FG receive & put away work, sales orders, cycle counting, invenory movements etc.)?

Taking into consideration your opinion and what we can read in "Dynamics Ax 2012 R3 Licensing & Pricing guide" I believe in our scenario we don't need to buy any license for WMDP users. What we need is one license for PC in warehouse which will be used by multiple workers to process shipments, loads, etc.
Number of user IDs isn't important, but you have to decide whether you'll license named users (10) or shared devices (5). If you choose device CALs, don't forget that the users can't access AX through any device that doesn't have proper license. If you license users, they can use any computer they like.
I'm not familiar with licensing WMDP in particular, nevertheless the AX license guide suggests that Warehouse mobile device users don't need any CAL at all. :-) But make sure that the role contains everything you need.
