Currently using the trial version and I haven't been able to determine if I can have multiple general ledgers in the online edition.  We have multiple companies that I will need GL for but unable to find info on this.

    Hello,

Are you needing to create additional companies or looking to break up one company's general ledger into different departments, for example?

In either case you will want to make sure and go to the Company Information window (you can use the search icon inside D365 for Financials and type in Company Information) and make sure your User Experience is set to Suite at the bottom of this window.

Once your User Experience is set to Suite, then you can go to the Companies window and create a new company and/or you can set up Global Dimensions which will allow you to break down the chart of accounts to departments for example. Here's some documentation on Dimensions to review and see if this is what you are looking for: docs.microsoft.com/.../finance-setup-dimensions

Please let us know if you are looking for different functionality and we can see if there is something available inside Dynamics 365 for Financials to help with what you are looking for.

    Regards,

    Jennifer Reinhardt

What is the maximum number of companies you can setup in Dynamics 365 GP?

There isn't currently a limit to the number of companies you can have.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

As you said there is no limit of companies we can create in dynamics 365 GP, is it applicable to dynamics 365 for financials business edition too.

As I want to know if there is  any limit for creating companies in  dynamics 365 for financials business edition .

    Thanks!

    Hello,

There is no limit to the number of companies you can create in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations Business Edition.  I'm assuming the above was a typo since there is no product called Dynamics 365 GP.

    Thanks,
    Chris
