Just downloaded Dynamics GP2018 and extracted all files, etc.  Have a standalone software product that is written in Dexterity.  l copy all my files and .dic into the new dex directory.  Go into development mode, and then attempt to start Test Mode, but get an error:  "An open operation on table <table name> failed because you are not logged in to a valid data source."  My application written in Dexterity uses C-tree not SQL.  Is this the problem, i.e., the system is looking for SQL files.  I tested it on other apps I have written and get the same error msg.  How do I tell DEX to read C-tree tables?

    Did you comment out (with semicolon) FileHandler=SQL

    You need to do that as well.

    I suspect your standalone application was written in a previous version of Dexterity. You will need to use Source Code Control (whether that's Visual Studio Team Services, Team Foundation Services, Visual Source Safe, or even the generic text provider) to upgrade your application. VSTS is free for less than 5 developers. You can sign up at www.visualstudio.com. You will need to create a project then hook up to it with Visual Studio (VS2012 Update 4). Once you have that in place, you will check in all your resources.

    In GP 2018, you will connect to the repository and create a new (empty) dictionary, then update all resources. You can then compile and should be good to go.

    Thank you, but I already tried that with the following statement placed in Dex.ini:  [General]

    DatabaseType=Ctree

    and it still didn't work......what next?

    Change the Dex.ini setting for Database or FileHandler from SQL to Ctree.
