DA3001 Error while activating mPOS

Posted on by 117
Hi Folks,

I am getting a DA3001 error while activating mPOS on my newly created D365 FO VM on my laptop.

MPOS Version is 10.20.1845.26365
FO Version is 10.0.29 (10.0.1326.46)

I have a worker created with an external identity.
The validation status for my device is Passed.

I have checked everything from the FO side that is suggested by Microsoft on the documentation page.

Please help me out in solving the issue.

SS is attached below for reference.

    DA3001 Error while activating mPOS
I had faced this issue multiple times.

Checked the Retail Server URL in Activation Screen and in Channel Profile and all my setup in FNO, ran all the necessary jobs from channel database, everything was correct,
but still could not figure out why this was happening.

After a thorough investigation online, had gone through this link from Microsoft on how to enable loopback exempt.

After finding out the SID of Modern POS and Store Commerce and selectively exempting them from loopback

I had successfully activated MPOS and Store Commerce,

This has to do something with dot net loopback execution policy set to on by default on windows.

Apps like Modern POS and Store Commerce will be having trouble to connect to Retail Server when activating the device.

Short and best solution would be installing Fiddler and selecting Modern POS and Store Commerce in the app list and clicking the Exempt button

    DA3001 Error while activating mPOS
When you are trying to browse the URL from browser, is it showing a security error or the self signed certificate is not trusted?

    DA3001 Error while activating mPOS
Same issue for me. Brand new 10.0.37 VM onebox.

Had to generate self-signed certs, retargetretailserver, edit commerceruntime.config, retailtenantupdate, etc. etc. to get everything running properly in this new VM.

I can get CPOS to activate, but not MPOS or Store Commerce. Just get the DA3001 error. Event Viewer shows successful ping/healthcheck, but that RetailServer response was 0. Nothing really to go on here.

Not using the wrong URL, just the standard https://usnconeboxax1ret.cloud.onebox.dynamics.com/Commerce

So, has anyone activated MPOS in the new 10.0.37 dev box image?

correctly returns data and healthchecks are all green and good.

Just a single box dev 10.0.37 downloaded from LCS, self-signed certs. Everything works as far as I can tell, just not MPOS activation.

    Edit:
Tried this twice, so not sure why this works, but open MPOS and attempt to activate... Get the DA3001 error. Leave that up.

Install Fiddler Classic, open WinConfig button, then check the box for Microsoft POS, Save Changes, flip back to MPOS and hit Retry.
Immediately I get the login/authentication screen. Close Fiddler and finish Activating MPOS. No clue why this works, but I've tried it twice from a brand new 10.0.37 vhd image, and same result. MPOS hangs with DA3001, but the second I open fiddler and check the MPOS box in winconfig section, MPOS activates, and then I can close/remove fiddler and everything works fine. How odd.

    DA3001 Error while activating mPOS
This issue normally occurs due to the usage of wrong Retail Server URL, Check the following.

    1. Get the Retail Server URL from Channel profile.
    2. Check if the Channel Profile is associated to the Retail Channel/Store in which the register is created.
