Shipping add-on for Electronic stores

Does anyone have any add-ons for electronics stores to properly handle shipping for internal purposes in RMS 2.0?

Here is the scenario:

My client uses a 3rd party shipping company to pick up and deliver an item, such as a stove, from the distributor to the customer.  He needs to track the shipping internally and NOT show the amount charged on the customer's sales receipt while having be part of the transaction he created for his customer. This is becuase he quotes his customer one price which includes shipping but he doesn't want the customer to know the break down.  Furthermore he wants to track and make sure the landed cost is properly calculated for the order.

Thanks in advance,

Shawn

    Hi Shawn,

The method above tracks the cost price of items sold over time, and is available now out of the box with little or no cost impact to setup.

RMS Feature Pack 1 has additional fields at the purchasing level to help track landed cost of goods purchased / received.  Have you taken a look?

There may also be add-ons / utilities available from 3rd party developers to handle your requirements.

    Regards,

    Tony

    Tony,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I will find out if they have fixed shipping or if it varies.  Will this method allow them to properly handle landed cost?

    Thanks again,

    Shawn

    Hi Shawn,

Does your client get charged a fixed amount each time for the stove or can it vary, or maybe fall in to one of several bands?

A simple solution would be to setup a Non-Inventory item called "Shipping Included FOC" at Zero price (so the customer does not see visibility) but the cost price of that item is the cost of the shipping to your client.  Setting up a Lot Matrix of such items would allow the relevant shipping item to be easily dropped onto the transaction each time, if there were several bands of fixed prices.

You could report on sales of all shipping items and total / evaluate the cost price.

    Regards,

    Tony
