Dynamics GP 13 User Security Issue Re: Vendor Cards

We copied the AP Clerk Security Role and took out all the Cards related to vendors.  (We don't want AP Clerks to have the ability to add vendors).  However, when you assign that new role to a user, they are still able to add vendors.  What are we missing?????

    Hi Katy,

You can actually track all this down using our security KB:

951229 Frequently asked questions about role-based security in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010

    mbs.microsoft.com/.../KBDisplay.aspx

    Look at Q/A 4.

    Hi Katy,

I guess the best way is to create Custom Role ID\Task ID for the Corresponding users. please check the below steps.

    1) Open User Security Task Setup screen, Type the Custom\New Task ID & Task Name

    2) Click Copy to type the existing CARD_0301* task

    3) Uncheck the Vendor Maintenance Operations(the users don't have access to Vendor Maintenance screen)

    4) Open User Security Role Setup screen, Type the Custom\New Role ID & Role Name

    5) Click Copy to type the existing AP CLERK* Role

    6) Uncheck the CARD_0301* task & check the created Custom\New Task ID, click save to make the changes.

    7) Open User security Setup screen, Pick\Type the User ID & choose the corresponding company

    8) Uncheck the existing role & check the new role ID to make the changes.

    Hi Katy,

Also you can Add Field level security to the particular user to achieve this.

Set the Field Level Security for the particular user (Disable Save Button for the particular user)

Also you need to disable\lock the following fields

for more details about field level security, please refer the below blog

but you need to handle the close button save dialog box.

Thanks for all the help.  Turns out it was the Admin_Mek task had vendor maintenance as a sub task so we removed that subtask and got the desired result.
