Fields locked in some Accounts but editable in others

Hello Dynamics Community,

we just launched Dynamics CRM Online in our company and are working hard to get the last few bigger problems solved so our Sales Team can work smoother.

Today one of your Sales employees contacted me about him not being able to edit some crucial Information in the account form. I checked and could confirm that in some accounts close to all fields are shown with a padlock infront of them. (see screenshot below)

I went ahead and checked other accounts for this issue. The confusing thing is that some accounts seem to randomly have padlocks on close to all fields and some do not have any.

I did already check field securities and the ones we defined do work as intended so these can be excluded.

I hope you can help me solve this issue. Thanks in advance

Kind regards,

PB

This should not be field-level security - I believe you would see a key icon to the left of the label if it were.. This should not be related to the user roles either - at least one field seems to be editable on your screenshot. Something is making those fields read-only, it seems, and some of those fields are not out-of-the-box. For example, country seems to be a lookup.. Out of the box, it's a text field I think.

Do you have any onload scripts for that form? Any chance you could post them here?

Hi, unfortunately almost every other field is affected by this too. It just seems like no user has permission to edit these fields. But as I said earlier, the field securities have been checked already and these do work on other entities.

    Thank you for your answer.

    Hi PB,

is this happening to the address fields only?

As far as I can tell it is not a browser-related problem. Our colleagues use IE, Chrome, Edge and Firefox altogether but thank you for your answer.

    Hi

Did you try different browsers as well as incognito mode?

Thank you for you answers so far.

I just checked and can confirm we do not have any custom JavaScript code or Business rules that affect the account Entity or any relating data.

Please check if there is any Business Rule or Javascript is present that is disabling the fields.

maybe there a custom javascript code running on the onload event that lock the fields based on some conditions
