Scrolling BPF Issue

Posted on by 30

I have a stage in a BPF that contains 20 Steps. When on this stage the BPF shows as scrollbar to bring the 6th and 7th columns into focus. When a field in either the 6th or 7th column gains focus (a user clicks on it), the scrollbar disappears and you can no longer see the fields you are editing (they are option sets). The fields do have focus and I can get a value in them using the keyboard arrows, but that is an undesirable UX and the user can't tell which option they are selecting.

Has anyone faced this issue or have any suggested workarounds? I am hesitant to return to our customer and ask to reduce the number of fields in this step. We already went through the process of reducing them once before and now have 10 Stages with varying numbers of steps and it seems to me that this should not be the behavior by design.

Screenshots for reference are below.

Initial setup...

Scrolled to the right, just before clicking...

Immediately after clicking (scrollbar gone and view reset to the left..the clicked field is active an off screen)...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also, for accessibility reasons, you have to be able to use tab only through the information. Keyboard only navigation has to work so avoiding using tabbing is not a viable solution.

Update from Microsoft...It is a known issue and they are planning a fix for it 8.2 with an ETA of 30-60 days. The issue has been fixed in 9.0.  My plan is to just move up my timeline on our upgrade to 9.0 and have users zoom out in their browser in the meantime. Hope that helps. Thanks for your suggestions Deborah and Marjorie!

    Hi Deborah,

That is definitely a potential solution that I can suggest it to our users, but that seems like a very strange solution to come from Microsoft. It is a glitch in their UI with applying a noscroll class to the containing elements of the BPF that forces the scrollbar to disappear and scroll left. I am going to mark yours as the answer, but I will also create a support ticket with Microsoft. I will return here with any updates I get from them.

    Thanks!

    Hello Adam

I've been working with a client who has experienced the same problem. I spoke to Microsoft about it and their suggestion was to reduce the zoom in the browser. Not sure how helpful that will be for you.

    Regards

    Deborah

Thanks for the tip Marjorie! Unfortunately, I am not tabbing. The behavior is happening with mouse clicks and scrolling.

Hi Adam, in my case I experience this kind of issue whenever I use TAB(keyboard) for navigating through the fields inside the BPF. The workaround I used is to avoid using tab key.

    Hope this helps!
