When i create number sequence. and i am trying to attach with item arrival journal but Error Facing
"The number sequence code IGP-01 generates numbers that are longer than the maximum length allowed for the reference."

Hi khuwaja,

This error occurred because EDT bind with Item arrival journal has less character length than the number sequence format range. In order to resolve this you need to create a format of a number sequence which is equal or less than the length of an EDT.

Dear Tabsheer,

As per my understanding are you talking about the journal ID of Item arrival table. Because if you are talking about this field then you are right that the string size (EDT) of this field is 10. And the only way to do that is to increase the string size and how can we change this and what will be the effect of this. Please review the snap shot.

Dear Khuwaja,

Yes i am talking about the EDT length. I have suggest you that do not change the EDT length because this EDT is OOTB that have multiple relations with other tables. Change in length of the EDT will cause you synchronization issues that will be very hectic to resolve. So what i suggest is that minimize the Number sequence format as per you EDT length this will resolve your issue.

take care from changing EDT for number sequence, it will affect on all fields that inherit from This EDT

if you reach maximum, you can create new number sequence or optimize the format
