Change Cost Category ID in Project Accounting

Posted on by 97

Is there a way to change/modify the Cost Category ID (as used in Project Accounting)?  I am running GP2015R2.  Any tools or third-party apps that can do this?  Thanks.

    Hi Eric,

I was able to locate the original source from those PA Changer Scripts :

    http://mpolino.com/gp/weekly-dynamic-changer-scripts-for-project-accounting/

As always, it's strongly suggested that you test those scripts first in a TEST company and also take a backup of your Database before you apply those scripts. Make sure you do this while no one is in the company, so if something goes wrong you can restore the backup of this company.

    Good luck.

    Beat BUCHER,

If you don't mind, having those scripts would be awesome!  Thanks so much.

    Hi Eric,

As Soma suggested, as long as you don't have any transactions associated with that CC in that Project.

I've used routinely some SQL scripts to rename Projects or CC's in GP if they had already transactions. I'm not in my office currently, but can send you the scripts later today if you want.

No tool available for changing Cost category ID. But, if you don't have any transactions against this ID, you can easily delete and create a new. Otherwise update it from back end. But, you have to analyse the tables linked with Cost Category ID before updating the same.

    Hope this helps!!!
