Management Reporter Current System Date

Posted on by 820

I have added the @PrintDateShort to my footer in Management Reporter. If I print to Management Reporter (Librabry), it appears. If I export this to excel, the current system date diappears. This also does not appear if I print straight to excel.

Anyone know how to get a current system date/time in excel header/footer from Management Reporter without having to manually add it to excel?

Ryan, I am not able to access the connect page for generated date time in management reporter. Can you have any other reference on how to get the generate date.

Sheila, Are you able to get the generated date in report. I am facing same issue.

    SHEILAJR,

We do have a few Connect suggestions on the request for static generated date code.

    connect.microsoft.com/.../ability-to-have-autotext-code-for-generated-time-and-date-in-report-headers-and-footers

    connect.microsoft.com/.../management-reporter-and-excel-headers-in-file-for-reports-with-trees

    connect.microsoft.com/.../system-date-and-time-are-updated-when-viewing-a-report-from-the-library

Also two suggestions on generating directly to Excel.

    connect.microsoft.com/.../directly-generate-a-report-to-excel-on-the-network-from-report-designer-not-report-viewer-not-sharepoint

    connect.microsoft.com/.../report-output-to-excel

There are a few advantages to have flexibility in viewing the report immediately in the web viewer and then choosing to download it if you like, but unfortunately it does add an extra few clicks to open the Excel file after generating.

    Thanks

    Ryan

I have the same problem.  I have a customer who wants to schedule their reports to run each night and when the managers open the report they want to see the date it was generated and not when it was opened.  The system seems to keep date generated because in the MR designer, from the Report Definition screen if I hover over the last generated report it gives me the correct date.

Or is there a way to generate the report to a static file like Excel, PDF or XPS without opening & saving the report after they are generated?

    Hi Karlie,

I took a look at this and verified it is a problem. I've gone ahead and submitted a bug for the issue. It does look like there is a workaround of generating to Viewer first, and then exporting to Excel.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

    Thanks

    Ryan
