an error occurred and retail pos could not find the cash drawer

Dear all,

I am using AX 2012 R3 Cumulative Update 12.

I use cash drawer "posiflex cr4000". This drawer connect to printer "epson TM U220D" using port RJ-11. Printer connect to cashier PC using USB connector. I set the hardware profile in AX for drawer with the device name of cash drawer and run distribution schedule. I have also installed and configure OPOS Driver in the cashier machine (for printer and drawer with the same name which setup on Hardware Profile).

Unfortunately, when I run Retail POS application there is an error as below:

An error occurred and retail POS could not find the cash drawer. You can try to fix the problem, and then click retry. Or click Cancel to start the Retail POS without the cash drawer.

Event viewer said as below.

Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.Pos.Services.Peripherals:

System.IO.IOException: CashDrawer device failed with error 'OPOS_E_CLOSED'.
at Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.Pos.Services.CashDrawerProxy.Load()
at Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.Pos.Services.Peripherals.LoadPeripheral(Int32 peripheralStringId, IPeripheral perphiral).

Does anyone can help with this issue? How to setup drawer in Retail POS AX?

Please help. Thanks in advance.

Note: Printer has already successfully print in Retail POS transaction. While Cash Drawer can be opened using OPOS software, but failed to open using Retail POS.

Best Regards,

Johanna

    Hi Joanna,

    It can happen your OPOS test software locks cash drawer, so POS cannot open it.

    Did you try to close the software and test POS?

    Also you should try to have a look at Task Manager - sometimes OPOS control process remains there and locks device from being used - killing the process can solve the issue.

    Regards,

    Oksana

    Dear Oksana,

    Thank you for your reply.

    We close the software and test POS in AX.
    In Task Manager, there is no OPOS control process remains.

    This issue has been solved by installing latest cco opos (https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/xiaohu/2015/04/17/steps-to-install-opos-drivers/).

    Now, we can login to Retail POS AX. But, the cash drawer is not opened when we click "Open Drawer" or print receipt in Retail POS AX.

    Do you have any idea to open the cash drawer when we click "Open Drawer" or print receipt in Retail POS AX?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

    Johanna

    Hi Joanna,

    Please, make sure:

    1) you do not use 'Train mode' - POS will not open cash drawer in this case;

    2)  POS user has 'Open drawer' permission configured;

    3) flag 'Open drawer' is enabled for payment method used in POS;

    4) no errors appear in Event Viewer

    Regards,

    Oksana

    Dear Oksana,

    I just close the shift and open the shift again then cash drawer is working perfectly.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Johanna
