Default order settings

Hi,

I want to know where is the default order setting for the inventory tab under Product information management > Released products > Plan > Default order settings > Inventory - Inventory quantity are used?

I want to change the standard quantity value to some higher value, so that I can calculate BOM for multiple items at a time. But I am creating the production order manually as well (as per this blog). Will this cause issues in any of the other areas.

I had the standard quantity to 0 initially and in my test environment I changed it to 10,000 and my BOM multiple item calculation problem is resolved, whereas I am not sure about the manually creating production order.

    Hi D_Meethu,

This quantity is suggested for recording when you select this item for example in an inventory adjustment or any other inventory journal. You can change it as required based on the settings in the multiple/min/max fields.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

    Ludwig,

I don't want to have any changes in the process of production or any other area AX to get affected if I change the standard quantity value to 10,000 from 0.

This is working for BOM multiple items calculation perfectly, and does not affect the MRP. My concern is when we create the production order manually.

    Hi D_Meethu,

Is it that you always want to produce 10000 pcs of your item?

If so, you could set the min/max/multiple and standard quantities to 10000.

Or is there something else you want to achieve?

I want to achieve the BOM calculation for the multiple items at once. If I have the standard quantity for all the items as 10,000 or more I am getting the correct calculated values.

But since then we had the default settings for the min and max only, whereas standard quantity use to be always 0. Now when I am changing the value to 10,000 will that affect the production order or any other area considers the standard quantity other than BOM calculation?

The default order setting for inventory are used as a default for any internal processes both actual and planned. Production orders, transfer orders, inventory journals ++...

    Fredrik,

But it considers usually min/max, multi quantity values and not the standard quantities correct?

Costing will use it - constant costs will be assumed to be absorbed at that batch size - it depends on your costing method and your costing sheet whether it will impact you!

So how can I use this standard qty value as 100000 and still not conflict my other work settings. Or is there any other field equivalent to this in AX that can calculate BOM costing for multiple items at a time?
