GP 2013 SP 2 on a Windows Surface Pro - Install Folder is Read Only

So, I have a user who has a Windows Surface Pro and wants to have GP installed on it.  I didn't have any issues getting GP 2013 SP 2 to install.  My problem is that the folder located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2013 on the Surface is set to be read only.  I unchecked the read only attribute in the properties of the folder and clicked apply but then when you close the properties window and re-open the folder is again set to be read only.  So, I am not able to get any third party products to install with GP since I can't get the folder to not be read only.  I found online a way to use 'attrib' in a command prompt to change the folder but that didn't work.  I made sure the user logged into the Surface is set to be a local admin and when I did the install I chose to install as the administrator.  Anyone else see this before and know how to get the GP2013 folder to not be read only?

Steps you have taken sound good to change the rules for the Read Only.

Other thing to check in the Folder Security properties is that this folder is not set to inherit the properties from the parent folder.  Don't have Surface Pro so not sure if that holds, but that is where I would start.

Second, if you got GP to install - I assume that you right clicked and 'run as administrator' on the launch file - so, would that not work for the 3rd party applications as well?

    Let us know.

The third party products are chunk files that get saved in the GP2013 folder but when you run GP it says it can't install them.  I am assuming because the folder is read only.

What is odd is that on my computer running Windows 7, I checked my GP2013 folder and it is read only, yet I have no issues getting third party products to install.  Not sure why on a Surface the chunk files won't install.

Ok, the 3rd Party chunks are there in the GP folder.

Now run GP - right click - run as Administrator and see what happens.

You can also see if changing the Compatibility in Properties to Run As Administrator (all the time) makes a difference.

Check the security setting for that folder and see the Read and Write, Read & Execute permission is given for the SYSTEMS & Users. Also Unmark the read only option for that folder and apply the changes to all the subfolders.

As suggested above by the Bill, set the Compatibility to Run As Administrator for the GP shortcut.

The answer to this is to right click GP and choose to run as administrator.  Then the third party products will install.

    Thanks for the help.
