Roll up Activity (Email, Task, Appointment,..) from custom entity to another custom entity

Hi all,

When I create new Activity on Lead and then convert it to Opportunity, all these Activities (Email, Task, Appointment,...) will roll up from Leads to opportunity. So I have a requirement on how to roll up Activities from a custom entity A to custom entity B just like Leads to Opportunity. Do we have any OOB solution or we have to customize it with code?

Thanks & regards,

Bao.

    Hi Mehdi,

I have read your article but this sentence make me confuse: "There must be an N:1 or 1:N relationship and the parent must be Account, Contact, or Opportunity."

The custom entity A and B have the 1:1 relationship, if I convert entity A to B, can I set the relationship between these two Entity? Entity B will be the parent?

Or if I understand right, this kind of configuration only can use on Account, Contact and Opp?

Please correct me if I'm wrong

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I think this approach is also applicable for custom entities. Also, there is no 1:1 relationship in CRM, we have the possibility to have the following relationships only: 1:N, N:1 and N:N.

Could you please specify how you built the relationship between entity A and entity B?

    Hi Mehdi,

My mistake, relationship between entity A and B is N:1, which means entity B lookup to entity A.

    Thanks.

Try to reproduce the same configuration explained in the blog I shared. Don't hesitate to share some screenshots in case you get stuck.

    Hi Mehdi,

Follow up with your instruction, activities will only roll up from entity B to entity A right? If I reconfigure the relationship to N:N, will it be rolled up from entity A to B and vice versa?

    Thanks & regards.

    Hi Mehdi,

I can't change the Behavior Relationship of the Rollup from Cascade None to Cascade All. it's read-only and I can't change it.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

It is read-only because the Primary entity is not Account, Contact, or Opportunity.

Please note, Roll-up Views can only be enabled when the Primary Entity is one of the following:

    • Account
    • Contact
    • Opportunity

For example, if entity A (custom) has a lookup of Contact, you can enable the Roll-up Activity View, however, if the lookup is Entity B (custom), it will not work.

I know, when we say it works with custom entities, it gets confusing, however, the custom entity will work only if the Parent (lookup) is one of the above entities.

Following is an excellent post for FAQs about roll-up activity view:
