Segment Import/Integration - is it possible without accessing the SQL tables?

Posted on by 135

Good Morning,

I've been tasked with setting up a new company in GP for a property we are in the process of acquiring.  Obviously that includes the COA, which cannot be set up until the segments are created, but it appears that the segments need to be either hand entered or imported into the SQL tables, which our IT department is reluctant to do.

I've been looking at Integration Manager which doesn't seem to have a segment destination, but it does refer to a master level destination.  Is that something that's applicable in this case?  I've been working with text sources.

Thank you for your help

Steve

You can use "table import" to import into any GP window.  Table import has been around and was the primary data conversion tool prior to integration manager.  You can easily import segment descriptions and values in to the Segment Description table from a CSV or Tab delimited file.

    Tips

    1. I recommend that you test the import on a test company first.

    2. Don't use headers in your source file

    3. Run Checklinks after you import

    Here is an article.
