IT Changes password for account runnin MR and now no one can get into MR

IT came along and changed the password for the account running MR. I have followed the steps to rebuild the DataMart but creating the DM fails because it is picking up the old domain credentials for the account. IT does not remember what was the old password. Is there any way to recover that passwords or to reset it?  This is MR CU15.

    Hello Richard,

I also replied to the issue you described here in a separate thread.

Please let me know if the customer continues to encounter this problem. If possible, I would suggest they install MR to a test environment and confirm they can re-create the issue there. Then, lets work together to figure out what is "stuck" through a support case so we can figure out if there is a fix we need to release so the same problem does not occur in the future. There are some changes planned for the next CU to help clean up old data mart integrations which may already fix this type of problem, but if we can test and confirm before the next CU releases that would be best, since a new fix may be able to be included there. The sooner we can work on this the better!

    Thanks!

Some bits of the credentials are stored in the ControlCompany table.  The GLEntityConnectionInformation and GLEntityCredentials columns.  We use GP and the GLEntityCredentials column is NULL or blank.  I have had to change the SQL Server name in the xml in the GLEntityConnectionInformation  column (as I can't figure out how MR picks up the SQL Server name and it picks it up incorrectly in our multidomain environment).  The answers the others have given here are the approaches that I would look at.  I don't run the DataMart though.

    Richard,

    Check the table [ManagementReporter12].[Reporting].[SecurityUser]

There might be a user called "Management Reporter".. which could be a SQL user. Backup the table before altering anything from it..

PS: Role Type 5 is a full Administrator of MR, you might be able to change the role of an existing Domain user.

Whatever I try results in an unable to login message using the domain account that is running the services. The services are running and I have stoppped and started them. Isn't there a table that contains the credentials somewhere in the ManagementReporter database? To me, it appears logging into MR pulls those credentials from the database and since those credentials have the old password no one is allowed to log into MR. If anyone knows how to blank out those credentials please let me know.

    Agree with Harry,

You should be able to just re-enter the pwd in the services running on the MR server. That should do the fix.

    Hello, Richard -

Did you already try the below -

Launch services from your desktop and right click to connect to another computer (punch in the name of the server where MR application and process services are running).

I have embedded the 2 services:

    MRServicesStartStop.png

Click on the application service and open the logon tab and rekey the DM credentials.

    Bounce the service.

Repeat the same for process service.

    Richard,

Check your services on the machine running Management Reporter. You should see both Management Reporter Application and Process Services. Each of these services have a Log On As setting, I would recommend changing the user name and/or passwords stored here.
