Using Qty Height & Width in a sales orders

HI,

I Would like to know the best way to change the way our company enters sales quotes & orders. Our joinery company sells cut sized panels - These could be any sizes in 1mm increments. So I would like to enter a panel  Qty=2, Height= 750, Width=350. this information would then need to flow into the factory as a work order so the team could cut the panel to size.

hope this makes sense.

    Steven,

Adding to what Josh replied... You can use Variants to define the Height and Width. This would be the simplest and in the latest BC version you can define the Prod BOM/Routing to the Variant. If this is not exactly what you want, you can always look to an APP that will supply the required functionality. You can look at: www.trimit.com/.../

    Thanks,

    Steve

Hi,  I think the easiest way to do this is to write the sies directly into the item description on the sales quotes & orders.
    For example:
    A 100mm * 20mm
    A 80mm * 30mm

But then the cost may be inconsistent and I recommend that it would be better to recreate a new Item each time.

As unique fields makes sense for keeping it a clean user process. There is now the ability to use variants on production orders: docs.microsoft.com/.../variant-code-added-production-order-header-plus-limited-support-production-boms-routes-stockkeeping-units

Perhaps if those fields were added they could create or check for a variant. That way you have bespoke at the front end of the process (sales) and standard for the back end (production). Development would be needed for it to pan out as you’ve described. If you can compromise by having a user create or check for a variant you might be ok for standard. Appreciate setting up all manner of size combinations isn’t a great suggestion. Which is why I left it to the end
