Microsoft - D365 Preview to GA - Poor Roll Out

Microsoft,

Your transition to moving D365 Guides from Preview to GA is poor. First, just setting up an environment for Guides is awful and I have done it twice now. The second time, the IT Director and I had to go through it. Now every time you guys do an update will we have to go into the dungeons of D365 and Azure to update it? Really.

But lets talk about the giant elephant in the room. I think Guides is awesome because guess what? I have my own Hololens 1, which meant I already understood its power. But alot...ALOT of people, enterprise people, people who pay for the HL2's and D365 environments don't get it. And videos only go so far. But you put a Hololens 1 on them and show them...and its an instant change.

Here's the elephant...Guides isn't meant for IT admins...the Evangelist for Guides are going to be closer to the front line. How the hell are we supposed to demo and build D365 Guides for stakeholders but first we have to go through layers of IT setup, lack a community Guides preview account to share, or have a community account to demo on Hololens even if we don't have D365.

I want to see Guides succeed. I have the means to keep pushing because I'm in the right size company...big enough for resources but small enough to have few layers. What about everybody else?

RE: Microsoft - D365 Preview to GA - Poor Roll Out

Hi Ken – We understand there's some complexity to our setup process and are working with our platform teams to improve the experience. In the meantime, the reason we have taken this approach is to allow enterprises to integrate Guides into their existing workflows and business applications and utilize the common data service and associated applications like PowerApps and Flow.

Regarding making it easier to demo Guides  – in the GA release of the HoloLens app we have included a “Try the demo” feature which is a standalone guide that you can use to demonstrate mixed reality instructions without needing to setup the environment or signup for a license.
