Referenced Barcode module - adding barcode to the report dataset in AL

Posted on by 20
Hello, we are currently in test mode for our new BC environment. We would like to add a QR code to the sales confirmation report or a pick report.
I've read the article below that points to a bar code module. I think the article indicates the capability has to be added via code to the BC dataset. I’m not a programmer, does this require a reseller do this?  or is there a no charge plug in available to activate the barcode feature?
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/devenv-report-add-barcodes?tabs=1d#reportobj
Thanks in advance

Thank you for your replies. I'm very comfortable updating reports as long as the dataset shows the barcode fields are available. I used Crystal reports often with our prior system.
How much time should it take my reseller to update the dataset so the barcode option is available to use in custom reports?  Thanks again.

Hi, agree to NAV_with_Narang, this have to be customized.
    More details:
Use one-dimensional barcodes in reports (Business Central online)

Using 2D barcodes Font in BC Online/SaaS (Aztec, Data Matrix, Maxi Code, PDF417, QR-Code)

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

Hi There - You are right, you need a developer to get this done. Even if you install any add-in, each report has an individual layout which needs to be modified so the QR/Barcode can be accommodated. I would suggest reach out to the Microsoft Partner who is assisting you implement Business Central, they generally have developers with specialized skills which can do this job easily. If you do not have a MS Partner, try finding one local to you. They should not charge you a huge fee for such a small customization
